The Sydney University Association of Biomedical Engineers was founded in 2004 on the initiative of Professor Andrew Ruys. It was seen that a body should be set up to represent the biomedical engineering students on campus, a group that is becoming almost exponentially larger with each year. The society caters for the social as well as professional development of its members and is recommended for all biomedical students and anyone interested in the field of biomedical engineering.

The Association is run in accordance with its constitution, which lists the aims of the Association as to:

Increase the interaction between students and staff   -   Help members to better understand the biomedical engineering industry

Increase interaction between similar societies at other universities   -   Help members with their career prospects

Establish and maintain an alumni association.
