The team of 2020-2021:

President  Emily foster

Emily is a bundle of joy that can make anyone happy with her humor, personality and charisma. Her passion to create a positive difference in the world through innovation in healthcare is what drives her studies in biomedical engineering and medical science. She is passionate and enthusiastic and her attributes being a natural leader, team player and active listener will serve her well as president of SUABE. When she isn’t stuck in books or leading SUABE, she loves sport and rigorous challenge. She used to row for USYD and has now taken up cheerleading this year. Apart from the gym, she listens to music and used to love going to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Her favorite café on campus is Ralph’s Café as they are famous for their gluten free options and banana smoothies, which are incredible post workout. She was a peer mentor during semester 1 and really enjoyed helping and welcoming new members into our community. As president, she will strive to see every member succeed in their passion and provide every opportunity available to reach their goals.

Vice President AManda kheir

Amanda is a force to be reckoned with. As Vice-President currently of both SUABE and the Sydney University Women in Engineering Society (SUWIE), on top of being an executive member on both since her first year of university, there is not an organisational challenge she doesn’t meet with ease and flair. Beyond her brilliance as a team leader and straight-up hard work, her positivity and fun-loving demeanour shines brightly. Her unique ability to bring people together and raise their spirits no matter the circumstance is an asset to the team, holding the SUABE community closer than ever. Beyond university life she finds time for an extensive array of fitness activities from the gym to aerial, which is perhaps the secret to her boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm. Sure to initiate and motivate innovation in the healthcare sector, her passion to create positive change is one that excites and inspires the biomed community.

Treasurer  Rose Bao

This aspiring biomed project manager and comedian has it all!! Rose is one of the most enthusiastic and friendly people you'll ever meet. Her organisational skills and determination to help others reach their goals makes her an invaluable member of the team. Inspired by her family, she is a passionate and outgoing spirit that will always deliver results. Her love of maths and willingness to overcome her fears for the greater good of the society makes her the perfect fit for the role as SUABE Treasurer.

Secretary Athena Kam

Athena, SUABE's secretary, is an energetic and hardworking ball of sunshine. Doubling with neuroscience, Athena has an aspiration to use biomedical engineering to bring everyone to an even plane in health care! Athena's life outside of uni involves a lot of creativity. With her artistic streak, she designs Spotify playlist covers which are super adorable! She also expresses her creativity through music, playing guitar and singing beautifully! During semester, you can find Athena in PNR or just outside uni getting a brown sugar chai and 'Redfern' sandwich at Terra Cotta Roasters.Athena is passionate about continuing SUABE's culture of inclusion by creating, running and spreading awareness of events and is able to do so with her incredible organisation and communication skills.

Sponsorship Officer  Hugo Molinari

If you see a really tall and handsome looking brown- haired boy around PNR we can always immediately recognise him as our very own Sponsorship Officer Hugo! Do not be intimidated by his height as in truth, he is a really kind and gentle soul who you would always love to have around. He never hesitates to help you when you are in need and is a very friendly person. He is an excellent sailor and also, his culinary skills to bake and make pasta from scratch makes him the complete package for wholesomeness. With his amazing critical thinking, organisation skills and leadership quality he aims to build his career in the Biomedical Industry or continue to take up a postgraduate course in dentistry! Being currently in second year Biomedical Engineering and Medical Science with all the talents he has to offer makes him the ultimate Sponsorship Officer for SUABE for the year 2020-21!

Marketing Officer maeve kelaher

Mighty – Ambitious – Endearing – Versatile – Extroverted. MAEVE! A modern romantic at heart, she adores fashion, photography and the fine arts. A Photoshop fanatic, social media guru and gifted artist. When she’s not out chasing her dreams, she’s either dominating on the hockey field or baking her famous brownies! An audacious spirit, she’s drawn to the effortless connection between healthcare and technology that is fundamental to biomedical engineering. So much more to discover… so much more to innovate… nobody more qualified to take on the role of Marketing Officer!

Second Year Representatives

Sarah Wacher

With a love for crime fiction and extraordinary talent in basketball, Sarah has packed a powerful skill set to lead SUABE as a Second Year Representative. Her strengths in organisation and diligence in her work are comparable to her signature apple pie. A chef at heart, unafraid to take risks, Sarah brings kindness to the team and joy that is felt in every conversation. Her passions reside in neuroscience, Grey’s Anatomy and Sydney Roosters. Her party tricks: 3 pointers and The Worm. This year, she is very excited to explore the research and manufacturing facets of biomedical engineering. She also hopes to see more applications of engineering principles and methods in industry.

Nandhika Venkateswaran

You would be hard pressed to find another person around PNR who is more willing to help you with any problems you may have or to have a conversation with than this social butterfly. Nandhika doubles her biomedical engineering with microbiology and hopes one day to become a clinical researcher after doing postgraduate medicine. Outside of uni, Nandy loves to embrace her creativity through her drawing and reading. While at uni, Nandy loves to get a vanilla milkshake with extra vanilla ice cream from Terracotta café. Nandy will prove herself as an invaluable member of the SUABE team in her role as a Second Year Representative where she will use her outstanding leadership skills to lead the subcommittee in 2020 and into 2021.

First Year Representatives

Jess Perchman

While one of the youngest members of our executive team, she is also one of the most influencing members with a tik tok account glorifying engineering. When offline, she is a proud plant mother fostering 10 plants in total (Stewart is her favorite but don’t tell the others)!  One day she hopes to be on the frontline of the medical industry by using her engineering and medical science knowledge to forward healthcare around the globe. However, for now, she has the passion to use her creative thinking and communication skills to get a  mountain load of first years involved in SUABE.

Brian Trang

Empathetic, organized, and hardworking - This trilingual triple threat should not be overlooked!!! Although Brian has only just started university, his passion for engineering began with a childhood dream of being a lego T-rex builder. Now, with a fascination for robotic limbs and a passion for people, Brian is set to create a name for himself. This King's boy from Cabramatta knows the Sydney cuisine like the back of his hand but wishes to one day conquer the world. Although he has a focused character, he likes to let loose on the dance floor and bust some moves. He exudes warmth, authenticity, and his infectious personality onto all who meet him, making him a fantastic addition to the SUABE community.
